Castilla’s poor form continues

Matchday nine (Sun 24 oct, 2021) : Atlético Sanluqueño 3 – 1 Real Madrid Castilla

Real Madrid Castilla lost another away match of the season in Primera RFEF to Atlético Sanluqueño as Castilla boys seemed struggling to perform regularly.

Miguel created the first chance of the game in the early stage. But his effort went wide. Not long after, the hosts took the lead from the spot-kick. Madrid gk Fuidias tried to hold onto the ball from a free-kick but instead put the team in danger by upending an opposition player. The referee took the decision without taking any time and pointed to the spot. Then opposition forward  Edu Oriol stepped up and scored for Valencia.

Things got worse for Madrid youngsters when the hosts took another lead within five minutes. Edu Oriol scored a brace from a deflecting shot pouncing on a loose ball.

Raúl’s team kept pressing and continued to search for goals. But the opposition defense had all the answers to it. Arribas took some chances to get back into the match, but  Isma Falcón held his ground. Just before halftime, Arribas made a run into the box all by himself, only to be taken down. The referee awarded a penalty to Real Madrid. Arribas himself stepped up and found the net. It ended up being 2-1 at the first half.

But Madrid came back strong from the dressing room. The boys created ample chances for them, but neither of them proved to be successful. Madrid future star Arribas got two delicate chances himself to put the team ahead or at least get an equalizer, but the accuracy and his luck both seemed not to be okay with him. He tried again and cut back into the box, but his shot kept flying away. Real Madrid Castilla was torn apart by Valencia successfully when Armental’s long-range effort found the Madrid net.

The visitors kept searching for goals through Latasa and Arribas. But the match ended without Madrid getting any points out of it.
